Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actor and singer, both of Irish origin. The passionate, fiery roles she appeared in myriad of American films were appreciated by the green-eyed beauty , with flaming hair and flaming eyes. Her stunning appearance and natural beauty were well-received. Her name was renowned in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". The characters she played on screen reflected her own strong, courageous spirit who fought for respect and survival in this male-dominated world. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and did not sacrifice her fame or her respect for the roles she won by merit. She stood up for injustices and unfair treatment of female actors during her film career. She also gained many followers. Her autobiography, 'Tis Sheself which was published in 2004, gave an honest and unfiltered story of her entire experience, including her difficulties in climbing the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who wasn't afraid to try her own stunts. She appeared in more than 60 films and was a international star. In 1968, she remarried with Charles F. Blair Jr., a former pilot chief and brigadier who were the pioneers of transatlantic aviation. In the early years of their union, O'Hara decided to finally quit her job. Blair was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s joy. The same year, she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer and had to undergo an immediate operation. She was successful in recovering. She had six heart attacks, short-term memories loss and type 2 diabetes over the next years. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
