Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora, a British musician and singer. Rita Sahatciu Ora was born in 1990 in Pristina (Kosovo) to Vera (Bajraktari), and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is her granddaughter. When she was just one, her family took the decision to relocate to England. She was born in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She sang from an early stage of her life. In 2004, she appeared in the British movie Spivs. After auditioning for Eurovision Your Country Needs You (BBC One), she was chosen to represent the United Kingdom in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She eventually walked out of the competition after a number of episodes because she believed that the stage wasn't in good condition. Ora has released her first album in 2007, when she was featured in the Craig David song "Awkward" which was followed by a follow-up appearance in 2008 on "Where’s Your Love" featuring TinchyStryder. Ora began singing in bars in and around London, and in 2009 an A&R rep told Roc Nation about Ora, shortly after Ora traveled to New York and met Jay-Z. In 2009, Ora made a cameo in Jay-Z's video of "Young Forever" and "Over" by Drake. Ora got the attention of Jay-Z and he shrewdly signed her to Roc Nation, in which she appeared in commercials for Roc Nation + Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was a proprietor of a pub and she started her singing performances from the same pub. Gwen Stefani was her major influence. Her father was a pub manager and she started her singing shows from the same bar. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are close friends.
